CHELATING AGENTS: their structure and properties

Dit is een hoodfstuk uit het afstudeerproject dat in 1997 is geschreven voor de opleiding Conservation and Restoration of ceramics, glass and related materials aan West Dean College, Engeland. Het project heet: Chelating agents for the removal of iron stains from ceramics. Een samenvatting van het project is gepubliceerd in in “Conservation News, the official newsletter of the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works”.

Dit hoofdstuk behandelt de structuur en eigenschappen van de groep stoffen die chelating agents worden genoemd. Deze stoffen worden door restauratoren van verschillende disciplines gebruikt om vuil van objecten te verwijderen. Een veelgebruikte chelating agent is EDTA.
